Josh Urich is a multi-instrumentalist/songwriter from San Diego, CA, now based in LA. He earned his Bachelor's in Commercial Music at PLNU and is a 2024 San Diego Music Award Nominee.
His latest release, "Don't You Mind?" drops you in the shoes of a person drowning in a toxic relationship. The song is a cry for help and a desire for closure from the toxic partner born from some of his own struggles. Influenced over the last couple years by bands like Title Fight, Citizen, Sweet Pill, and Modern Color, his sound has been pushing closer to Dreamo and Shoegaze, while still maintaining the unique Josh Urich flair.
Released in March of 2023, his first album, "I Wonder If They Like Me" (which is nominated for Best Indie/Alternative Album at the San Diego Music Awards 2024), is a deep dive into himself. He explores faults, insecurities, struggles, and redemption in growth as a human being and musician. With the help of amazing mix-engineer/producer, Josh Goode, who he met in college, the album was polished and completed. This album lives somewhere between indie, rock, and pop, and that fine balance is what makes the Josh Urich sound.
His passion for writing songs began in a friend's loft in 2017. Surrounded by confident creatives, Josh was encouraged to write his first song. From that moment on, the seal was broken and songs began flowing like water. With the help of his mentor, Tonga, and the influence of artists like Hippo Campus, Young the Giant, Frank Ocean, The 1975, and Last Dinosaurs, Josh Urich refined his craft and has been hooked on creating music and writing meaningful lyrics ever since.
